Sparks
A Way for Sparkies to
Bless Our Troops

Have each Sparkie fill out a prayer card with his or her name, some information about your Awana club and a prayer for safety. On the back, print the name and address of your church. Mail the cards to those serving in the armed forces. If a clubber gets a letter in return, he or she gets a prize. From Layton Mathews, Calvary Bible Church, Lapeer, Michigan

Cubbies Love ‘Feeding the
Bear’ Each Week
“For Cubbies dues collection, I use a plastic bear-shaped container. I found it at Sam’s Club filled with cookies. I painted it to look like Cubbie Bear with his blue vest on and cut a slit in his mouth. The Cubbies love to feed their dues to Cubbie at the beginning of club each week.” From Teresa E. Thorne, First Baptist Church, Johnson City, New York

October is Clergy Appreciation Month. It’s a special time for congregations to honor pastors and their families for their hard work and sacrificial dedication. Why not do something special for them as a club? Create a card, host a dinner or perform an act of service.

Have Your Cake Game Idea
Place four cakes with plain frosting on sturdy tables 10 feet in front of each team’s line. A player from each team stands on the line with a chef’s hat and tube of colored frosting. When the whistle blows, the player puts on the hat, runs to the cake and decorates it. On the next whistle, the player returns to the line and gives the hat and frosting to the next clubber until all have played. The team with the best decorated cake wins!
