Gary Minta

Awana is a global organization serving more than 34,000 churches in over 100 countries. In his role as Vice President of Finance & Operations/CFO, Gary Minta oversees finance, accounting, information services, distribution, purchasing and production. Gary is also a member of the Global Leadership Team where he provides financial direction for all of the Awana ministries.

Gary’s story
Gary grew up in the Chicago area and met his wife, Diane, in high school. Soon after getting married, their faith journey began along with their passion for local church ministry. They served as Awana leaders when their four children were young and also helped plant a local church in the Chicago area. Over the years, Gary has served as a board member and treasurer and overseen financial functions at several not-for-profit organizations, including a local church.

Equipped to steward God’s resources
Prior to joining Awana, Gary worked for over 25 years as a financial and operational executive focused on all financial functions, strategic planning, acquisitions, information technology, risk management and analysis.

“In my previous positions, I was helping wealthy individuals grow their wealth,” Gary says. “I knew I wanted to do something in the world with eternal purposes and being in an environment to do that was very important to me.”

As Vice President of Finance and Operations/CFO, Gary ensures that Awana practices good stewardship with funds received through programs, products and donations. The global reach of Awana now reaches over two million children a week and continues to expand both domestically and internationally.

Gary is currently a director on the board of Stewardship Insurance Ltd.

“Gary Minta is one if the most insightful and collaborative team players with whom I have had the privilege to work,” says Jack Eggar, Awana President/CEO. “He is an excellent addition to the Awana Global Leadership Team.”
