Fall is in full force, and we’re pushing toward the halfway point of this year’s PowerUP!
Welcome to the latest issue of PowerUPdate, your source for PowerUP news, tips and encouragement! PowerUP is all about getting as much of God’s Word as we can, as deep into hearts as we can, of as many children as we can.
Introducing Super Section Saturdays!
Super Section Saturdays are special days for leaders
and kids to get together to pass handbook sections—as many as possible!
The idea is to help clubbers who’ve fallen behind or visitors who
got a late start make up some sections. Super Section Saturdays are kind
of like a phone-a-thon—your clubbers all work together toward a
goal. It makes for a fun time at church, too! And our training materials
have more tips
for you to make SSS super-special.
Christmas Idea
Do your clubbers have trouble falling off pace just before the holidays? Well then, we have an idea for you! Create a 12 Days of Christmas sheet to motivate kids and excite them to come back to club. Make a take-home handout with artwork for each of the 12 days and a blank below each day. Over break each time clubbers spend 10 minutes working on their verses a parent can sign one of the blanks. When clubbers return in January, if every blank is signed they’ll get a special treat! Thank you to actual Awana leaders, Terry and Vicki Burlingame, who submitted this tip.
Handbook Helps
Remember that Awana wants to support you all the way
through PowerUP. Not only are all program, publicity and training materials
available online at www.awana.org/powerup,
but we also have select Scripture memory tools to help your clubbers get
through handbooks. We’ve just debuted the smash hit T&T
Trading Cards. These cards are a fun, interactive way to motivate
kids. Also, handbook
music and flash
cards are helpful items to boost Scripture memory.
