PowerUPdate
March 2007
You’ve been working hard all year and you’re
seeing the results — well done!
Welcome to the latest edition of PowerUP, the newsletter
that provides you with PowerUP news, tips and encouragement. As you’re
approaching the homestretch, we’ve got some ideas to help make your
final months powerful!
Super Section Success
After the recent issue of PowerUPdate, one club in
Arkansas decided to give Super Section Saturdays a try. Here is what Cindy
has to share:
This past Saturday, our fifth- and sixth-grade
T&T clubbers participated in our first Super Section Saturday. We
held it at our church’s teen center from 9:30 a.m. to noon and
served donuts and juice for all to enjoy. Even though it was cold and
rainy, we had about a 60-percent turnout. Our clubbers had fun and worked
on their sections. We had one clubber complete 21 sections! To motivate
our kids to come, we offered them five extra shares for attendance.
Plus an extra share for every four sections they completed. We offered
shares for word-perfect sections, as well! I encourage other churches
to do this to get your group on track for the end-of-year awards. It’s
well worth it! Cindy

Isn’t that great news! Super
Section Saturdays can take place anywhere and anytime you choose.
If a party is not feasible, consider meeting with an individual clubber
and his or her parent. Invite them out for ice cream or a soda and volunteer
to listen to some sections at their convenience. It doesn’t matter
what you do; the idea is to make it fun — like Cindy did! Your clubbers
will be excited to attend! For more super suggestions, just go to the
PowerUP Web site.
Now is the Time!
Avoid the stress of ordering awards
at the last minute. The process is easy with the Ministry
Guide Online. Simply go to the “search” field and enter
the type of award you want – Timothy, Meritorious or any other.
If you’d prefer not to order online, you can always complete the
order form in the back of your printed catalog or call 1-877-292-6232.
Consider purchasing a variety of awards early and then
displaying them. Include out-of-the-ordinary
items from the MGO or Awana
Store such as picture frames, jewelry or the ever-popular T&T
Trading Cards. You might also check out the DataCheck!
or Space
Chase! computer games (for those who have completed T&T Book One
early and would enjoy interactive review). You may find your display is
just the motivation you’re looking for to get clubbers to finish
their work.
Serve and Be Served
If you can, identify book finishers who have the maturity
and desire to help other kids who are struggling to complete their sections.
You’ll find it to be a win-win situation for everyone. The struggling
kids will be grateful for the extra attention and the kids working with
them will enjoy the opportunity to serve!
Tell Us About It
We all want to see our clubbers succeed with their
handbook work and Scripture memorization. Some kids just need a little
more encouragement than others. If you’ve found a great way to assist
those students who struggle with staying on track, we’d love to
pass it along to friends right here in the PowerUPdate! Just send your
ideas, questions, pictures or any PowerUP stories to powerup@awana.org.
Together we can PowerUP for God!
Until next time!
