New Zealand sends many of its believers into international Christian work, but at home, the task is harder. Kiwi society is very secular, with most children attending state schools and having little access to Christianity. New Age spirituality attracts many with its mix of religious practices, but some do see the false promises within this and seek Christ instead. Awana New Zealand can help with mentoring the next generation of believers in the Kiwi church. It supports the churches there by teaching kids the incredible news of the gospel, equipping leaders with discipleship, courage, and proven training methods, and changing the lives of many who wonder if life can provide something more.
Reaching Kids in New Zealand
There are over 800,000 children in New Zealand today under the age of 15, the time of life when they will be most open and receptive to the message of the gospel. The Awana program, with its high-quality materials and solid, Biblical message, can help the churches to raise up a new generation of believers. Since the first international Awana club began in New Zealand in 1985, the gospel of Christ has shown each child in Awana that he or she is precious to God and created especially by Him!
Every week, Awana New Zealand reaches 204 children with the gospel through 7 clubs.
Equipping Leaders in New Zealand
Awana is a proven program for reaching kids with the gospel. But it disciples the rest of the church through equipping the Awana club leaders with courage and joy in spreading the gospel. Each Awana program is built upon leadership that is trained to reach children, like those who use our Leader-Based Strategy (LBS) curriculum.
National missionaries, who understand the complexity of their countries, assist the churches which use the Awana program.
Changing the World in New Zealand
What a powerful combination Awana is for the people of New Zealand and the rest of the Pacific Rim: solid, Biblical teaching for kids with trustworthy discipleship for adults. Many are coming to know the Lord and be discipled in a progressive manner through the Awana program. It’s a program that works across many demographics and denominations. Together, this combination can change the world within a church, a community, and a country.
