In recent years, Christian workers have answered the call to minister to the country with the most languages, Papua New Guinea. Many people in all areas of Papua New Guinea society have turned to Christ as a result. In its turn, the country is starting to send out Christian missionaries beyond its borders. Awana Papua New Guinea supports the expansive growth of the churches by teaching kids the incredible news of the gospel, equipping leaders with discipleship, courage, and proven training methods, and changing the lives of many who wonder if life can provide something more.
Reaching Kids in Papua New Guinea
There are over two million children in Papua New Guinea today under the age of 15, the time of life when they will be most open and receptive to the message of the gospel. It’s a perfect time for them to be mentored through a solid Biblical program like Awana. Since the first club began there in 1991, the gospel of Christ has shown each child in Awana that he or she is precious to God and created especially by Him!
Every week, Awana Papua New Guinea reaches 4,269 children with the gospel through 71 clubs.
Equipping Leaders in Papua New Guinea
Awana is a proven program for reaching kids with the gospel. But it disciples the rest of the church through equipping the Awana club leaders with courage and joy in spreading the gospel. Each Awana program is built upon leadership that is trained to reach children, like those who use our Leader-Based Strategy (LBS) curriculum.
National missionaries, who understand the complexity of their countries, assist the churches which use the Awana program. In Papua New Guinea, there is one missionary couple and one coordinator couple serving the churches with Awana clubs. They help the churches to implement the program and train the leaders.
