Christian ministries are booming in South Korea, and it is the second largest missions-sending country. However, the young people of Korea are drifting away from their country’s Biblical moorings and are more interested in pursuing a Western-style prosperity. Awana South Korea can help with this; it supports the churches by teaching kids the incredible news of the gospel, equipping leaders with discipleship, courage, and proven training methods, and changing the lives of many who wonder if life can provide something more.
Reaching Kids in South Korea
There are close to seven million children in South Korea today under the age of 15, the time of life when they will be most open and receptive to the message of the gospel. Highly educated, these children really benefit from the high quality, age-appropriate program Awana offers. Since the first club began there in 1983, the gospel of Christ has shown each child in Awana that he or she is precious to God and created especially by Him!
Every week, Awana South Korea reaches 18,943 children with the gospel in their heart language through 381 clubs.
Equipping Leaders in South Korea
Awana is a proven program for reaching kids with the gospel. But it disciples the rest of the church through equipping the Awana club leaders with courage and joy in spreading the gospel. It supports the church’s vision of evangelizing and discipling the young lives who will take the South Korean church into the future. Each Awana program is built upon leadership that is trained to reach children, like those who use our Leader-Based Strategy (LBS) curriculum.
National missionaries, who understand the complexity of their countries, assist the churches which use the Awana program. In South Korea, there are five missionaries or missionary couples serving the churches with Awana clubs. They help the churches to implement the program and train the leaders. A national director provides training and oversight for the missionaries.
Changing the World in South Korea
What a powerful combination for the people of South Korea and the rest of the Pacific Rim: solid, Biblical teaching for kids with trustworthy discipleship for adults. Many are coming to know the Lord and be discipled in a progressive manner through the Awana program. It’s a program that works—across many demographics and denominations. Together, this combination can change the world within a church, a community, and a country.
