Seven Arab states form the United Arab Emirates, some of the wealthiest areas in the world due to their oil revenues. Spiritually, however, they remain impoverished and without the hope of the gospel. Islam is the official religion, which discourages the Christian minority and makes evangelism illegal. Awana United Arab Emirates supports the Christian church there by reaching kids with the incredible news of the gospel, equipping leaders with discipleship, courage, and proven training methods, and changing the lives of many who wonder if life can provide something more.
Reaching Kids in the United Arab Emirates
There are just over one million children in United Arab Emirates today under the age of 15, the time of life when they will be most open and receptive to the message of the gospel. These children desperately need to know the eternal love and hope that only a life in Christ provides. Awana United Arab Emirates is able to come alongside through local churches in ways foreign organizations cannot. Since the first club began there in 1987, the gospel of Christ has shown each child in Awana that he or she is precious to God and created especially by Him!
Every week, Awana United Arab Emirates reaches 470 children with the gospel in their heart languages through 8 clubs.
Equipping Leaders in the United Arab Emirates
Awana is a proven program for reaching kids with the gospel. But it disciples the rest of the church through equipping the Awana club leaders, a need particularly felt in the United Arab Emirates’ small evangelical church. Each Awana program is built upon leadership that is trained to reach children, like those who use our Leader-Based Strategy (LBS) curriculum. National missionaries, who understand the complexity of their countries, assist the churches which use the Awana program.
In the United Arab Emirates, there is a coordinator couple serving the churches with Awana clubs. They help the churches to implement the program and train the leaders.
Changing the World in the United Arab Emirates
Other countries are not like the U.S., where kids have an array of choices for activities. When a church starts the Awana program, children have a meaningful and fun place to go as they learn about the gospel. Adults are discipled and trained to make more disciples. Awana seeks to reach more children in the United Arab Emirates with the gospel and equip more leaders there.
