The Holy Spirit is working in an amazing way in Vietnam. The number of evangelicals grew nine-fold between 1975 and 2010, despite severe persecution by the government. This is particularly the case among the mountain tribal groups and other minority groups. Still, many adhere to the old Communist ideals and refuse God His rightful place in their lives. Awana Vietnam can help; it supports the churches by teaching kids the incredible news of the gospel, equipping leaders with discipleship, courage, and proven training methods, and changing the lives of many who wonder if life can provide something more.
Reaching Kids in Vietnam
There are 22.7 million children in Vietnam today under the age of 15, the time of life when they will be most open and receptive to the message of the gospel. These children desperately need to know the love and hope that only a life in Christ provides. Vietnamese Bibles are becoming more plentiful, and with the Awana program in their own language, children now have a comprehensive way to study God’s Word. Since the first club began there in 2012, the gospel of Christ has shown each child in Awana that he or she is precious to God and created especially by Him!
Every week, Awana Vietnam reaches 18,021 children with the gospel in their heart language through 167 clubs.
Equipping Leaders in Vietnam
Awana is a proven program for reaching kids with the gospel. But it disciples the rest of the church through equipping the Awana club leaders with courage and joy in spreading the gospel. One of Awana’s specialties, leadership training is one of the highest needs in the Vietnamese church. Each Awana program is built upon leadership that is trained to reach children, like those who use our Leader-Based Strategy (LBS) curriculum.
National missionaries, who understand the complexity of their countries, assist the churches which use the Awana program.
Changing the World in Vietnam
What a powerful combination Awana is for the people of Vietnam and the rest of the Pacific Rim: solid, Biblical teaching for kids with trustworthy discipleship for adults. Many are coming to know the Lord and be discipled in a progressive manner through the Awana program. It’s a program that works—across many demographics and denominations. Together, this combination can change the world within a church, a community, and a country.
