- TRAINING & RESOURCES
Awana is constantly seeking to serve leaders and kids in better ways so that more will come to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ. After several years of development, a national field test and listening to a lot of feedback from leaders like you, we are pleased to announce that the first year of the T&T update is here!
We invite you to pray with us and follow our updates as we continue to develop the rest of the T&T curriculum. For more information, please sign up for regular updates below.
What is the goal in updating T&T?
At Awana, our goal is, and always has been, to equip churches to reach your kids and walk alongside them as they grow in their faith. We continually engage club leaders, in order to better understand the unique needs of their ministries. It is because of leader feedback that we are updating the T&T ministry in 2016. We’ve added new features to a great program that allow for retention and application of the verses and Gospel message, creating greater inroads for discipleship on T&T night. The updated curriculum will allow churches to serve more children in 3rd thru 6th grade in greater ways.

Didn’t the T&T curriculum just change?
The last change to the T&T curriculum was actually in the 2009-2010 ministry season.
Will uniforms and awards change?
Since we updated the uniforms and awards during the 2014-15 ministry season, they will remain the same.
When will training on the new program be available?
Resources to help you prepare for next club year will be available in spring 2016. Check our Training & Resources page for tools, training and a list of live events created to help you transition your club.
What if my church would like wait before transitioning to the new T&T?
We will leave it to your discretion to determine whether or not you'd like to purchase the updated materials or continue with classic T&T during the 2016-17 ministry season. The first year of classic T&T is currently on sale and available only while supplies last. Please plan accordingly if you plan to transition at a later date.
How do I integrate the new program into my club?
There are a variety of ways that the new T&T materials can be customized to best serve the needs of your church. For ideas on how to integrate the new T&T in a way that best fits your club, download our transition recommendation document found here when it becomes available, or watch a previously recorded webinar now.
What if my church isn’t ready to change our club night structure?
That’s ok! You can still use the new T&T materials in your current format! Features have been added to provide churches with more options for discipling the kids in their ministry. We understand as the leader you know the needs of your ministry, and we encourage you to do what is best for your kids.
What is the Alltogether Method? Who does it serve? Why is it needed?
The Alltogether Method moves kids together as a group from week to week and is designed to serve all T&T kids! The Alltogether Method allows for fullyintegrated Large Group Time teaching and Small Group Time discussion which reinforces the weekly Bible concepts.
This ensures that all kids understand and apply the Biblical concepts presented in each lesson, allows them to “drill down” into scripture for a depth of understanding before going further in the handbook, keeps all kids on the same page in Large Group Time and allows for focused discussion during Small Group Time.
Kids are still welcome to complete the handbook at their own pace.
What are “small groups”?
Small Group Time has been added to T&T to create deeper discipleship opportunities between leaders and their T&T kids. Small Group Time will be used to review handbook material, reinforce themes learned during Large Group Time, foster community, and develop the important spiritual disciplines of praying with and for each other.
What is Start Zone?
Start Zone is the initial 2 week T&T experience that all kids, regardless of previous T&T experience, complete prior to starting the T&T handbook. Start Zone includes a full explanation of the Gospel and an introduction to T&T.
What is Fast Track Time?
Fast track time is the time dedicated to signing off on completed handbook sections. Designating a separate time for handbook signoff allows Small Group to stay focused on discussion, prayer and community building.
How do we train our volunteers to run Small Group and Fast Track time?
More information and resources are being created to help you prepare your leaders. Any new resources can be found here, when they become available.
If we are using the Alltogether Method and kids want to work ahead in their books, how should we handle this?
Kids who want to work ahead in their handbooks and/or dive deeper into a topic via the weekly Silver and Gold Extra Credit opportunities are welcome to do so. The Alltogether Method focuses on a fullyintegrated Large Group teaching and Small Group discussion that reinforces weekly Bible topics covered in the handbook. This aids understanding and retention of the Biblical concepts and memory verses each week.
Is there still an award for finishing the book?
Yes, book awards are staying the same. Children will need to complete all handbook requirements (excluding Bonus Boxes and Silver and Gold Extra Credit) to receive a book award. T&T leaders still have the freedom to chose when awards are issued during the ministry season.
Is extra credit available?
Yes, each handbook section has a Silver Extra Credit Bible study and four Gold Extra Credit memory verses that dive deeper into that section’s Bible topic. The Extra Credit is included in the back of the handbook with additional extra credit available for download.
What do we do when a child joins midyear?
We recommend all kids begin with the Start Zone before moving into a handbook. Once complete, have the child start where the rest of the group is pacing with the Alltogether Method. Kids are welcome to go back and complete the sections they missed but this is certainly not required.
What do we do with kids who have inconsistent attendance?
Allow these kids to continue pacing with the rest of the group via the Alltogether Method. They are welcome to complete the sections they’ve missed but this is not required to still have a great T&T experience. Sections should be counted in a cumulative nature so that for every four sections a child completes, they receive an award emblem. For example, a child with inconsistent attendance and handbook achievement ends up completing handbook sections 1.1, 1.3, 1.4 and 1.8. This child would be eligible to receive an award emblem.
How will the changes in T&T affect Bible Quiz?
Bible quizzing is no longer run or resourced by Awana Headquarters or Awana Field Staff. Please contact your Awana Regional Director to find out who the Bible Quiz facilitator is for your area and how they would like to handle the integration of the T&T changes into Bible quizzing.
What opportunities do the kids have to work at home?
The new T&T is designed to encourage kids to complete their handbook section before coming to T&T each week. This encourages parents to be involved and allows the child to think about and prepare for the lessons and verses for that week. This allows kids to be more engaged during the Large Group teaching and Small Group discussion and aids retention of the Biblical concepts.
What about the kids who will struggle to complete their work ahead of time?
Understandably, there may be some children in your T&T club that will struggle to complete their work before club. That is ok! In these situations, we recommend using Small Group Time to work through and discuss the handbook material together which will benefit all the kids in your group.
How will the new T&T facilitate parental involvement?
At Awana, we believe that a child’s discipleship experience begins at home. The new T&T has been built to to encourage, parents or the child’s guardians, to become involved in their child’s spiritual development in greater ways. The new T&T Kid’s Handbook includes 26 simple activities for parents to participate in the child’s handbook experience. Weekly handouts will also be available for leaders to send home to parents each week.
If parents are looking for more ideas on how they can develop their children spiritually, invite them to check out our new blog just for them at parentstuff.awana.org.
