In spite of the ethnic divisions in Croatia, many Bosnians, Croats and Serbs have been won to Christ and brought into fellowship together. As ministries have cared for those who suffered in war, the gospel has won people’s trust. Believing churches are spreading, though they are still relatively small in size and number. Awana Croatia aims to support these new churches by teaching kids the incredible news of the gospel, equipping leaders with discipleship, courage, and proven training methods, and changing the lives of many who wonder if life can provide something more.
Reaching Kids in Croatia
There are over 600,000 children in Croatia today under the age of 15, the time of life when they will be most open and receptive to the message of the gospel. Well educated, children here need the Biblically sound, age-appropriate materials that the Awana program provides. When children are mentored in the gospel from an early age, a new generation of Christians in Croatia will result. Since the first club began there in 1995, the gospel of Christ has shown each child in Awana that he or she is precious to God and created especially by Him!
Every week, Awana Croatia reaches 12 children with the gospel in their heart language through 1 club.
Equipping Leaders in Croatia
Awana is a proven program for reaching kids with the gospel. But it disciples the rest of the church through equipping the Awana club leaders with courage and joy in spreading the gospel. In Croatia’s new fellowships, where pastors are rarely full-time, other leadership is necessary to add support and encouragement. Each Awana program is built upon leadership that is trained to reach children, like those who use our Leader-Based Strategy (LBS) curriculum.
National missionaries, who understand the complexity of their countries, assist the churches which use the Awana program.
Changing the World in Croatia
In Europe, people tend to see Christianity as “old” and uninteresting. Awana debunks those myths! Unlike many American churches, most European churches have no children’s ministry. When a church starts the Awana program, children have a meaningful and fun place to go as they learn about the gospel. Adults are discipled and trained to make more disciples. Awana seeks to reach more children in Croatia with the gospel and equip more leaders there.
