Post-911 Germany is interested more than ever in Christianity as a counter to extreme Islam. With the most stable and strongest economy in Europe, the country has prominent Christians in government and is poised for great openness for the gospel. Despite organized religions decreasing, grassroots churches are strong and growing. Awana Germany supports these traditional churches and grassroots efforts alike. It reaches kids with the incredible news of the gospel, equips leaders with discipleship, courage, and proven training methods, and changes the lives of many who wonder if life can provide something more.
Reaching Kids in Germany
There are 10.5 million children in Germany today under the age of 15, the time of life when they will be most open and receptive to the message of the gospel. Well educated, children here need the kind of Biblically solid, age-appropriate Christian materials Awana Germany is able to provide. Bringing kids to Christ and mentoring them along the way will raise up a new generation of Christians. Since the first club began there in 1985, the gospel of Christ has shown each child in Awana that he or she is precious to God and created especially by Him!
Every week, Awana Germany reaches 485 children with the gospel in their heart language through 10 clubs.
Equipping Leaders in the Germany
Awana is a proven program for reaching kids with the gospel. But it disciples the rest of the church through equipping the Awana club leaders with courage and joy in spreading the gospel. Each Awana program is built upon leadership that is trained to reach children, like those who use our Leader-Based Strategy (LBS) curriculum. National missionaries, who understand the complexity of their countries, assist the churches which use the Awana program.
In Germany, there is one coordinator couple serving the churches with Awana clubs. They help the churches to implement the program and train the leaders.
Changing the World in the Germany
In Europe, people tend to see Christianity as “old” and uninteresting. Awana debunks those myths! Unlike many American churches, most European churches have no children’s ministry. When a church starts the Awana program, children have a meaningful and fun place to go as they learn about the gospel. Adults are discipled and trained to make more disciples. Awana seeks to reach more children in Germany with the gospel and equip more leaders there.
