Still dominated by a military base, Guam is a United States territory. Many people are employed by the government or military and are U.S. citizens. Typically, there are both benefits and drawbacks to the U.S. presence. One benefit is that Guam is a hub for communication and travel. Many people can be exposed to the gospel, and churches are beginning to send out Christian workers to surrounding countries. Awana Guam can support them in multiple ways. It provides the churches there with a way to teach kids the incredible news of the gospel, equip leaders with discipleship, courage, and proven training methods, and change the lives of many who wonder if life can provide something more.
Reaching Kids in Guam
There are over 40,000 children in Guam today under the age of 15, the time of life when they will be most open and receptive to the message of the gospel. The Awana program, with its high-quality materials and solid, Biblical message, is a powerful tool for churches to reach out cross-culturally to children of diverse backgrounds. Since the first international Awana club began in Guam in 1984, the gospel of Christ has shown each child in Awana that he or she is precious to God and created especially by Him!
Every week, Awana Guam reaches 220 children with the gospel through 2 clubs.
Equipping Leaders in Guam
Awana is a proven program for reaching kids with the gospel. But it disciples the rest of the church through equipping the Awana club leaders with courage and joy in spreading the gospel. Each Awana program is built upon leadership that is trained to reach children, like those who use our Leader-Based Strategy (LBS) curriculum.
National missionaries, who understand the complexity of their countries, assist the churches which use the Awana program.
