Despite their country’s many natural resources, the people of Kazakhstan have found it difficult to make use of them. They have emigrated again and again, but recent laws have brought back many to their home country. Rich economic times have also brought non-ethnic workers and made Kazakhstan very diverse ethnically and spiritually. Unity among Christian churches is starting to attract others to the gospel. That’s where Awana Kazakhstan comes in. It supports Kazakhstani churches by reaching kids with the incredible news of the gospel, equipping leaders with discipleship, courage, and proven training methods, and changing the lives of many who wonder if life can provide something more.
Reaching Kids in Kazakhstan
There are over 2.5 million children in Kazakhstan today under the age of 15, the time of life when they will be most open and receptive to the message of the gospel. Bringing kids to Christ and mentoring them along the way will raise up a new generation of Kazakhstani Christians. Since the first club began there in 1992, the gospel of Christ has shown each child in Awana that he or she is precious to God and created especially by Him!
Every week, Awana Kazakhstan reaches 195 children with the gospel in their heart language through 3 clubs.
Equipping Leaders in Kazakhstan
Awana is a proven program for reaching kids with the gospel. But it disciples the rest of the church through equipping the Awana club leaders with courage and joy in spreading the gospel. Each Awana program is built upon leadership that is trained to reach children, like those who use our Leader-Based Strategy (LBS) curriculum.
National missionaries, who understand the complexity of their countries, assist the churches which use the Awana program. In Kazakhstan, there is one coordinator couple serving the churches with Awana clubs. They help the churches to implement the program and train the leaders.
Changing the World in Kazakhstan
In north Asia, Christianity is a minority religion. Using a program like Awana gives church leaders a way to reach out to the children of their areas and provides them with a better understanding of their own beliefs. When a church starts the Awana program, children have a meaningful and fun place to go as they learn about the gospel. Adults are discipled and trained to make more disciples. Awana seeks to reach more children in Kazakhstan with the gospel and equip more leaders there.
