Gideon Karl, a Papua New Guinean, has been an Awana Coordinator for Papua New Guinea since 2011. He graduated from Bible College in 2010 with a Bachelor of Theology Degree. Prior to his studies he was involved in fulltime ministry with the church for seven years and gained experience in the areas of youth ministry and children’s church and as an assistant pastor and church administrator.
During Gideon’s internship, he introduced Awana to his sending church. He started with 18 clubbers and by the end of the year, the number tallied up to 300 clubbers with 16 leaders.
Gideon is married with young three children. His wife, Julie, when able, takes part in the Seed Planters’ Trainings—teaching sessions and overseeing the meal preparation.
Gideon is taking the Awana program into remote, challenging areas of the mainland and PNG Islands where a clear teaching of the gospel is lacking. Gideon wants to see every child in Papua New Guinea have a chance to hear the gospel in a way in which they can obtain a clear understanding, despite their animistic worldview.
