Africa Area Director
Stephen Maposah responded to the Savior’s voice at the age of 17. Eager to embrace the full calling of the gospel on his life, he attended Bible College completing a Diploma in Theology. A desire for further training and development led him to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Bible studies and a Master of Theology.
Stephen’s passion is for the evangelism of children. In 1990 he joined Awana as a Missionary for Zimbabwe. He then served as the Regional Ministry Director for East Africa and in 2008 became the Area Director for all of Africa. Stephen has developed an excellent team of Regional and National Directors who lead this ministry that is growing exponentially across the continent. Under his leadership the Awana ministry in Africa has grown from 1,000 clubs to nearly 8,000 clubs evangelizing and discipling more than 925,000 boys and girls each week.
Stephen is a native of Zimbabwe and lives in Harare, with his wife Edina and three children. Africa remains one of our fastest growing areas with Awana and has the largest number of children per club in some of the most economically depressed countries in the world.
