Southern Africa Regional Ministry Director
Joseph Mbange was brought up in a Christian family and attended Awana as a young boy. Growing up in the Awana program, he trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior at the age of 16. Joseph has earned a Diploma in Biblical Studies, a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Communication and is currently working on his Master of Arts in Religion.
While working with teen missions, Joseph developed a strong desire and passion to minister to young people. He became an Awana missionary in Zambia in 2002 and was promoted to National Director in 2009. In 2012 he was appointed Regional Ministry Director for Southern Africa.
Under Joseph’s leadership the Awana Leader-Based Strategy ministry model was piloted in Zambia in 2007. The ministry quickly grew from 87 clubs in 2007 to a thriving ministry today of more than 1,000 clubs providing a program of evangelism and lifelong discipleship to more than 150,000 boys and girls each week.
Joseph is a native Zambian and he and his wife, Alice and two daughters have recently moved to South Africa to oversee the Awana ministry in eight countries of Southern Africa.
