Eastern Africa Regional Ministry Director
Charles Nderitu accepted Christ as Savior while still in primary school. His desire to tell others the gospel message led to his starting a Christian Union club later in his high school. After graduation, he attended Bible classes. While working as a pastor and Bible teacher at a Baptist Bible College in Kenya, he was called to become a Missionary with Awana Kenya in 2002. Charles was promoted to National Director and introduced the Awana Leader-Based Strategy ministry model in Kenya in 2008.
Under his leadership the ministry in Kenya has grown from 150 clubs to more than 1,600 clubs reaching 189,000 children each week with the gospel. In 2012 Charles became the Regional Ministry Director for East Africa and oversees eight countries, four of which have launched Awana under his leadership - Kenya, Tanzania (est. 2008), Uganda, Ethiopia (est. 2014), Rwanda (est. 2013), Burundi (est. 2014), Sudan and South Sudan. There are 3,800 clubs working with over 540,000 children in Charles’s region.
Charles is a native Kenyan and lives in Nairobi, Kenya with his wife Ann and two sons.He serves in one of the fastest growing regions for Awana ministry in the world today, and it is due in large part to Charles’s excellent leadership.
