South Asia Regional Director
Gajendra Tamang completed his bachelor's degree at Grace Bible College in Delhi, India, in 1999 and it was there he developed a burden for missions. Upon returning to his home country, Gajendra joined Awana as a Missionary and he and his wife Manju began the first Awana club in Nepal.
In 2008 he was appointed National Director and helped launch the Leader-Based Strategy in Nepal. At that time there were 217 churches using the Awana program. Since then God has grown the ministry exponentially while developing Gajendra into one of our most outstanding young leaders. Today the ministry in Nepal is reaching more than 51,000 children with the gospel in nearly 2,000 weekly clubs. Gajendra has furthered his education by completing a Master of Arts in Holistic Child Development from the Malaysia Baptist Theological Seminary in 2012.
Gajendra is a citizen of Nepal and he lives in Kathmandu with his wife Manju and their two children. He was appointed Regional Director of South Asia in 2013 and in addition to leading our work in Nepal he also oversees ministry in Bhutan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Gajendra’s positive leadership style is infectious while complimenting his love and desire to equip leaders to reach the children of South Asia for Jesus Christ.
