Jim and Bev both had the privilege of being raised in Christian homes with parents that loved the Lord. Jim, at the age of 9, and Bev, at the age of 14, believed the Gospel message and personally trusted in Jesus’ finished work, His death on the cross, and resurrection for salvation.
Through their involvement in Awana, first as Directors and Commander, God placed on their hearts a burden for young people - that they would come to know Jesus as their personal Savior, and then come to love Him and His Word. Jim and Bev obeyed God’s call to become Awana Missionaries and were commissioned in October 1996 by Grace Baptist Fellowship in Lynden, WA. Through their ministry, Jim and Bev have seen the results of young people growing up through the Awana ministry from 3 years old through 12th grade, and the impact that the Gospel and Scripture memory have in the lives of children and teens and in their families. The VanMersbergens currently serve the Inland Northwest (Eastern WA and Northern ID) and Northwest WA.
Jim & Bev enjoy spending time with their four wonderful sons and daughter-in-laws and precious grandchildren. Jim also enjoys gardening and Bev enjoys playing piano and reading.
