The rich history of the Solomon Islands includes wave after wave of spiritual revival. Christian churches there have been strong as a result until civil war erupted in 1998. Today, the churches work at helping people deal with the grief caused by war and the need for reconciliation. Revival is necessary for young people to see the healing power in the gospel and be motivated to live it out. Awana Solomon Islands can help with this. It supports the churches there by teaching kids the incredible news of the gospel, equipping leaders with discipleship, courage, and proven training methods, and changing the lives of many who wonder if life can provide something more.
Reaching Kids in the Solomon Islands
There are over 200,000 children in the Solomon Islands today under the age of 15, the time of life when they will be most open and receptive to the message of the gospel. The Awana program, with its high-quality materials and solid, Biblical message, can help the churches to raise up a new generation of believers. Since the first international Awana club began in the Solomon Islands in 2001, the gospel of Christ has shown each child in Awana that he or she is precious to God and created especially by Him!
Every week, Awana Solomon Islands reaches 385 children with the gospel through 17 clubs.
Equipping Leaders in the Solomon Islands
Awana is a proven program for reaching kids with the gospel. But it disciples the rest of the church through equipping the Awana club leaders with courage and joy in spreading the gospel. Each Awana program is built upon leadership that is trained to reach children, like those who use our Leader-Based Strategy (LBS) curriculum.
National missionaries, who understand the complexity of their countries, assist the churches which use the Awana program.
Changing the World in the Solomon Islands
What a powerful combination Awana is for the people of the Solomon Islands and the rest of the Pacific Rim: solid, Biblical teaching for kids with trustworthy discipleship for adults. Many are coming to know the Lord and be discipled in a progressive manner through the Awana program. It’s a program that works across many demographics and denominations. Together, this combination can change the world within a church, a community, and a country.
