Like many European countries, Spain has more Christian immigrants than evangelical Spaniards. In fact, some estimates state that up to 80% of new churches are planted by Latinos, who can more easily adapt to another Spanish-speaking culture. They need eye-catching, age-appropriate materials to reach out to the children of Spain. That’s where Awana Spain comes in. It supports Spanish churches by reaching kids with the incredible news of the gospel, equipping leaders with discipleship, courage, and proven training methods, and changing the lives of many who wonder if life can provide something more.
Reaching Kids in Spain
There are over 7 million children in Spain today under the age of 15, the time of life when they will be most open and receptive to the message of the gospel. Well educated, children here need the kind of Biblically solid, Christian materials Awana Spain is able to provide. Bringing kids to Christ and mentoring them along the way will raise up a new generation of Christians. Since the first club began there in 1984, the gospel of Christ has shown each child in Awana that he or she is precious to God and created especially by Him!
Every week, Awana Spain reaches 125 children with the gospel in their heart language through 5 clubs.
Equipping Leaders in Spain
Awana is a proven program for reaching kids with the gospel. But it disciples the rest of the church through equipping the Awana club leaders with courage and joy in spreading the gospel. The children of Spain need strong, moral leadership to help them bypass the disillusionment the younger generation appears to develop. Each Awana program is built upon leadership that is trained to reach children, like those who use our Leader-Based Strategy (LBS) curriculum.
National missionaries, who understand the complexity of their countries, assist the churches which use the Awana program.
Changing the World in Spain
In Europe, people tend to see Christianity as “old” and uninteresting. Awana debunks those myths! Unlike many American churches, most European churches have no children’s ministry. When a church starts the Awana program, children have a meaningful and fun place to go as they learn about the gospel. Adults are discipled and trained to make more disciples. Awana seeks to reach more children in Spain with the gospel and equip more leaders there.
