England is the most secular of the four countries that comprise the United Kingdom, which also includes Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. The steady decline in belief and church attendance is of deep concern. With the older generation dying, churches tend to be converted for other religions to use. England’s inner cities, especially London, are in threat of becoming physical and spiritual wastelands. Awana United Kingdom supports British churches by reaching kids with the incredible news of the gospel, equipping leaders with discipleship, courage, and proven training methods, and changing the lives of many who wonder if life can provide something more.
Reaching Kids in United Kingdom
There are over 11 million children in the United Kingdom today under the age of 15, the time of life when they will be most open and receptive to the message of the gospel. Well educated, children here need the kind of Biblically solid, age-appropriate Christian materials Awana United Kingdom is able to provide. Bringing kids to Christ and mentoring them along the way will raise up a new generation of Christians. Since the first club began there in 1991, the gospel of Christ has shown each child in Awana that he or she is precious to God and created especially by Him!
Every week, Awana United Kingdom reaches 244 children with the gospel in their heart language through 9 clubs.
Equipping Leaders in the United Kingdom
Awana is a proven program for reaching kids with the gospel. But it disciples the rest of the church through equipping the Awana club leaders with courage and joy in spreading the gospel. Each Awana program is built upon leadership that is trained to reach children, like those who use our Leader-Based Strategy (LBS) curriculum.
National missionaries, who understand the complexity of their countries, assist the churches which use the Awana program.
Changing the World in the United Kingdom
In Europe, people tend to see Christianity as “old” and uninteresting. Awana debunks those myths! Unlike many American churches, most British churches have no children’s ministry. When a church starts the Awana program, children have a meaningful and fun place to go as they learn about the gospel. Adults are discipled and trained to make more disciples. Awana seeks to reach more children in the United Kingdom with the gospel and equip more leaders there.
