Meet Thiago
A Little Disciple Makes a Big Impression
Please let him get on the right bus at the end of the day.
Lord, help him make a friend.
What if his shoes come untied? Will someone help him? Lord, please give him a teacher who’ll help him tie his shoes.
Those are the kind of prayers most of us are sending up for our boys and girls when they head off to school. We just want them to be okay. But a little boy named Thiago had bigger things on his mind when he headed to his first day of school. He had Good News to share, and it was time to get to work.
Thiago is part of the children’s ministry at the House of God church in Venezuela, where he has attended Iglékids every Sunday and has learned from the Awana “Descúbrelo” program since he was three.
One of the books used in the Descúbrelo program had made an impact on Thiago and his understanding of God, so he didn’t waste any time sharing it with the world. On his first day of school, Thiago shared God’s plan for humanity using The Wordless Book his church leaders had given him in Descúbrelo. Seeing and hearing about Thiago’s passion and gift for sharing the Gospel, his church leaders challenged him to continue spreading the Good News, this time with local city leaders!
When the day came,Thiago was nervous and afraid, as many would be, but he believed and trusted God would take away his fear.
The result? One of God’s littlest disciples evangelized high-ranking officials in the southern state of Venezuela. Thiago is a living, breathing reflection of the power of the God’s Word in the life of a child. If Awana ministries can help one child in one country share Jesus with some of the most influential people in his community, imagine the power of millions of children around the world!
