Great GO Mission

The goal of Awana GO is to help kids put their faith into action and live on mission.

The Mission: Pray and GO sections in Discovery of Grace and Grace in Action follow every section and the unit builds a story of a child who is reaching others with the gospel of Christ. Unit 4 brings the focus back to the child going through the handbook and ask them to think about it for themselves.

Evidence of Grace and Agents of Grace focus on countries and prayer following every section. If your current T&T handbook does not include the Awana GO Activities page, you can still utilize the same GO Activities for children to earn their GO emblems. Just print and staple this sheet into the front or back of the handbooks.

These sections are optional and can be done in club or at home. They are one of the two GO activities required to earn the GO emblem.

Awana GO Leader Information

A child can earn one GO emblem per year and your church determines the GO emblem color for the year.

You may decide to just add a fundraiser that will help kids globally hear about Jesus and be discipled by caring adults.

Below are three suggested levels of engagement.

Minimal

• Play the Great GoMission Video for Kids.
• Share how kids can be part of God’s mission of telling others about Jesus.
• Spend time praying for people to be reached in your community and around the world.
• Encourage kids to complete at least two of the GO activities in their handbook

Basic
Do the Minimal plus…

• Dedicate one Large Group Time to utilize the theme video and correlating lesson plan.
• Incorporate a group service project or a Great GoMission fundraiser.

Robust
Do the Basics plus…

• Dedicate a full month for your missions’ emphasis. Make this month special with fun decorations, theme songs, etc.
• Incorporate missions into your game/activity time.
• Add additional GO lessons. The two, included in the Great GoMission kit, coordinates with recommended T&T handbook for the year.

The average number of children in an international club is 75-80 children. The training cost for the 2 church volunteers is around $750, so this calculates to $10 to reach 1 child. The beauty is that it is not for one year, but this $10 gift is for the life of the child in the club (avg. 4 to 6 years). Many times the older children become leaders and the club continues to reach more and more children.

Join the GO Reach Kids Facebook group. This group is intended as a place to build community with people who share a passion to reach more kids for Christ. Use this group to inspire or be inspired, to share ideas, ask questions and learn from each other.
