A Privilege to Serve

Bangladesh

When you look at a photo of Yeapow, you can see her confidence. This is a young woman who knows what she’s doing. She knows she’s exactly where she is supposed to be — helping kids learn about Jesus, the same way she learned when she was their age.

Once an Awana clubber, now a confident leader — Yeapow serves with joy.

From 2018 to 2021, Yeapow was active in her local Awana club, where she first decided to trust Jesus, and where she developed strong roots in her faith. Now, Yeapow is in grade 12 at her school in Bangladesh. In the summer, she can be found volunteering at an Awana children’s camp.

And it’s not just a resume-builder or a fun retreat for Yeapow, who says,  “It’s a great privilege for me to serve our younger brothers and sisters for His kingdom. This type of opportunity helps me to reduce my fear and makes me stronger in my leadership.”

Yeapow passing on her faith to the next generation at an Awana children’s camp

This full-circle story is one of hundreds — probably thousands, if we were counting — in the world of Awana child discipleship. It’s no coincidence that so many of today’s Awana leaders were shaped to know, love and serve Jesus in an Awana club when they were kids. The memories of childhood, and the peace they have as adults anchored in Christ, inspire them to pass down the tradition and the lessons they learned (and are still learning!) from the Bible.

When disciplemakers like you support Awana, you’re supporting Yeapow, and the over 10 million children engaged in child discipleship every week around the world. Thank you. And  today, Yeapow would appreciate a prayer, “for my family as well as my village children who don’t have access to join Awana club. I want to serve them and develop them for His kingdom.”

Every $5 helps a child like Yeapow.
