Meet Tranh! In Tranh’s village, many people are polytheist. A polytheist is someone who believes there are many god’s, not just one God. Can you pray that kids in Vietnam can know the one true God?
MEET TRAHN:
Tranh lives in Northern Vietnam. He grew up in a village with important traditions and filled with people who take pride in their culture. In Tranh’s village, many people are polytheist. A polytheist is someone who believes there are many god’s, not just one God. Tranh grew up knowing the beliefs of his friends and neighbors, but his family was very different—they believe in the one true God! His dad was a leader at the Awana club near his home, so Tranh was able to go to Awana every week and hear about how much Jesus’ loved him. He loves God’s Word and has a passion to share the gospel with all his friends at school and all the non-believers in his village. One day when Tranh was on his way home from school, he stopped by his neighbor Lanh’s home. Lanh was an old man who greatly valued his ancient traditions. Tranh walked through Lanh’s house and noticed all the false idols around his home. Tranh was saddened to think Lanh didn’t know Jesus. So he told Lanh that he was worshipping false gods—there is only One True God and worshipping anything else is a sin. He explained how he and his family worship only God and his father teaches him about how Jesus is Lord over all.
At first, Lanh was angry at the boy. He didn’t like being told he was a sinner. But the boy’s words stuck with him, and the next day Lanh went to speak to Tranh’s father. Lanh told Tranh’s father that he was convicted by what the boy said, and asked if he could explain more to help him find a true God. So Tranh’s father shared the gospel with Lanh, and he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior! From that day on, Lanh wanted everyone in his family and in the village to know about Jesus too! He shared the Good News with his entire family so they could be saved, and now even his grandchildren attend Awana! Isn’t it amazing how God used a 10-year-old boy to break through the spiritual darkness, through the power of gospel, in order to bring salvation to a village?
You are never too young to tell someone about Jesus, even if you think they are older and smarter. God says in 1 Timothy 4:12 that you can be an example no matter how young you are! Are there adults in your life who don’t know Jesus? Are you bold enough to share the gospel with them today?
