Public Release - RE: Awana Fulfillment and Distribution Services

Over the almost 70 years of our history, the mission of Awana has stayed constant, to equip leaders to reach kids with the gospel and lead them in long-term discipleship. This singular mission is the focus of our prayers as a ministry, the reason behind every decision, and the shared responsibility of everyone who commits to serving in Awana, whether as an employee, volunteer leader or even a donor/foundation.

As we relentlessly pursue this mission, it is our Kingdom responsibility to ensure that we are best stewarding our resources and focusing on our core competencies as we seek to faithfully serve our church, individual and organizational ministry partners. In some cases that means we start new initiatives, programs, and teams. In other cases, it means changing what we do. And at times it means discontinuing something we’ve done in the past.

After a two-year process of evaluation and due diligence, we have made the decision to discontinue our own fulfillment operation. Effective January 31, 2019, we will transition distribution and production to a best-in-class third party provider.

As a result, Awana will be shutting down the Penny Lane facility and discontinuing our own distribution operations effective January 31, 2019. The Penny Facility and property will be listed for sale immediately. Until then, we will continue our work of effectively serving our customer partners during this period of time.

We believe the best days of child discipleship are ahead of us. Therefore, we must be relentless in our efforts to stay focused. This means we will continue to do everything we can to partner with the local church all around the world. We love our local church ministry partners and are committed to serving over 55,000 church partners worldwide as they reach over 4.3 million children and youth.
