Gajendra Tamang is the global vice president of South Asia. He is a citizen of Nepal, where he lives in Kathmandu with his wife, Manju.  They have two grown children, Rachel and Timothy. Gajendra was appointed area director of South Asia in 2013, and in addition to leading our work in Nepal, he also oversees ministries in India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Gajendra’s upbeat leadership style is infectious and complements his love and desire to equip leaders to reach the children of South Asia for Jesus Christ.

Gajendra completed his bachelor’s degree at Grace Bible College in Delhi, India in 1999, and it was there that he developed a burden for missions. Upon returning to his home country, Gajendra joined Awana, and he and his wife began the first Awana club in Nepal. In 2008, he was appointed national director in Nepal, where he played a pivotal role in launching the Leader-Based Strategy and helped foster remarkable growth in the ministry.

Gajendra’s favorite Bible passage is Romans 1:16, NIV: For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes…
