Joseph Mbange
Africa
Joseph currently serves as global vice president for Awana Africa, where he has led in various roles since 2002, focusing on leadership development, strategic growth and sustainable impact across the continent. He is also a senior leader within the Evangelical Missions Chapels denomination and a licensed executive leadership coach and consultant in strategic leadership, organizational development and resilience.
Joseph is a native Zambian who accepted Christ while he was in an Awana club more than 30 years ago. He and his wife, Alice, live in Lusaka, Zambia with their five children. Joseph has extensive experience in leadership and complex organizations within the African context. He speaks multiple African languages and has developed leaders across Sub-Saharan Africa. He has a master’s in organizational leadership and is passionate about supporting local leaders to build thriving, sustainable ministries.
Joseph’s favorite Bible passage is Colossians 1:27-29, NIV: To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory; He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ; to this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.
