What do you know about Rwanda?

Maybe not much … except that there was a horrific civil war back in the 1990s. (In fact, 500,000 – 1,000,000 people were killed.)

Or maybe you’ve watched the movie about the hotel whose manager saved many lives during the war.

But here are some facts maybe you didn’t know …

*That Rwanda has been steadily rebuilding since that time? The capital city of Kigali is a modern place with beautifully-designed skyscrapers.

*That it is a country of high mountains and deep valleys?

*That it is slightly bigger than the state of Maryland?

*That it is one of three countries that has mountain gorillas – a reason that many people visit?

*That Awana is flourishing in Rwanda?

*That there are 130 Awana clubs in the country serving 14,342 kids?

*That Awana is flourishing to such an extent that one of the leaders who had been to the Awana training went home and started a club on his own. Within a short time – the club was reaching 1,200 kids? (How would you like that many kids to show up at your club?)

*That Rwanda Awana needs your prayers?

But wait, let’s get to know one of those Rwandan clubbers, Angelique.
