Sparks Reward Room
Would you like your Sparkies to show up at club ready to say two sections – and not just ready, but excited? Would you like it if your Sparkies enjoyed reviewing the truths you teach them in Large Group Time and Handbook Time? Would you like it if you and your leaders had time to work with the struggling kids who need one-on-one attention without having to entertain several other kids?
Many clubs are experiencing all those benefits with a method called Reward Room.
Here’s a quick look at how it works. At the beginning of Handbook Time, leaders divide into one of three rooms.
- The Study Room where trained, motivated leaders work one-on-one with kids who need help and encouragement.
- The Reciting Room where kids pass their sections and say their verses to leaders. New leaders, teens and part-time volunteers are suited for this role.
- The Reward Room where kids who have passed their sections for that night go to enjoy games and activities that review truths they’ve learned in club.
Often churches have listeners available before club begins so that kids can pass their sections then and go right to the Reward Room during Handbook Time.
The Reward Room has proven to be a great motivator – kids love it and want to be there a soon as possible. And while there, kids are encouraged to retain and use what they’ve learned.

Does the Reward Room work? Here are what some of the leaders say who have used the Reward Room concept.
*The Reward Room helps leaders spend more time one-on-one with individual kids, especially those who need extra help. There are fewer distractions, and it makes Handbook Time much less chaotic.
*Reward Room frees up volunteers to help the kids who need more personal attention.
*Reward Room motivates the kids to say two verses each week.
*Reward Room is a great incentive for Sparks to study at home and come prepared. Our book completion rate is incredible now! It’s also a lifesaver to be able to send kids to the Reward Room once they complete their sections, allowing more one-on-one time with the kids that really need extra attention because their parents don’t work with them at all.
*Reward Room moves the kids that are done saying sections to another room where they can continue to have fun and learn.
*Our leaders love Reward Room. The kids are completing more sections; kids who need more help are getting it; and it slows down the fast learners so they get more out of what they’ve learned.
If it’s a challenge to get parents to help their kids study at home; if your leaders need more one-on-one time with some kids; or if you’re just looking for a way to add some excitement and motivation to your club, check out the Reward Room. It may be just the thing you need.
