As leaders we desire to encourage clubbers to study God’s Word. After all, that’s why we serve in Awana in the first place.
And – we can always use someone echoing that encouragement as we talk to the clubbers … Ahhh … who better to ask for “keep-going” advice than Citation recipients themselves?
Recently I had the opportunity to wander around Summit (the event for Awana high school students) and ask “What advice would you give a T&T clubber?”
Here’s what they told me.
Stick to it. Just sit down and do it even when you don’t feel like doing it anymore. Don’t let your friends influence you. If you’re doing it only because your parents want you to, you probably won’t do it. You need to want to do it yourself. (MacKenzie, Red Bridge Baptist Church, Kansas City, Missouri.)
It’s worth it.
(Quinton, Denton Bible Church, Denton, Texas)
Work really hard. Enjoy it. It’s actually fun.
(Christa, Tulsa Bible, Tulsa, Oklahoma)(
All the cool people go to Journey.
(Alex, Pleasant Valley Baptist, Liberty, Missouri)
Make sure you truly have it in your heart, because it’s easy to forget what you’ve learned. Don’t be in a hurry to speed through it. Every moment is important.
(Mollie Borchert, Mountain Springs Church, Colorado Springs, Colorado)
Keep on going because in the end it’s worth it.
(Sean, Grace Church, Aurora, Colorado)
Don’t just do it to get your book done. Take time to understand it. Grow your faith in your middle school and teen years.
(Rebekah, Calvary Bible Church, Huntsville, Alabama)
It gets easier, so don’t complain that it’s too hard and quit.
(Andrew, Red Bridge Baptist, Kansas City, Missouri)
It is SO very worth it! Awana has given me the foundation of studying and dwelling on God’s Word daily.
(Taylor Orton, Pleasant Valley Baptist, Liberty Missouri)
I wanted a Citation since early T&T. The coach’s daughter inspired me greatly. Now I have an opportunity to be an example to encourage young clubbers to stay on track and not get behind so they have to work to catch up.

Enjoy your time in Awana and keep going because it is worth the time you put into it.
