Everyone seems to get in the Christmas spirit at different times. For some it begins December 1st. For others they get in the mood the week of Christmas. For folks in colder climates they may begin thinking of Christmas at the first snowfall.
For me, I begin to think of Christmas when I start seeing Christmas lights around town and when our family has put up the Christmas tree and strung the lights. When I see my home and my neighborhood illuminated by lights, I start to get in the Christmas spirit.
Christmas lights remind me of Jesus. In John 12:46, Jesus tells us that He has come into this world as a light and those that believe in Him have been brought out of the darkness. Jesus came into this world to be the Light of the world, and to point the world towards God. Jesus is called Immanuel which means God with us. The Light of the world came to be with us. Jesus came into this world to be with you.
Often times when we think of Christmas we think of presents. We think about the gifts we want, but Christmas is a great time to give as well. As Christians, we have an opportunity daily to share the light of Christ with others around us through what we say and what we do. Christmas time is an incredible opportunity to be a light in the world for Christ in your home, in your school and in your neighborhood. There is no better gift that we could give or receive this year than having Jesus in our lives and sharing Him with those around us!
Jesus came into this world to bring light into the darkness. Those that have put their faith in Him have been brought into the Light, and we have an incredible blessing to share that Light with others. Who around you needs to see the light of Christ? How could you show Jesus’ love to others this Christmas season? Take time talking and praying how you can be a light of Christ in your home, in your school or in your neighborhood. Christmas time is a great time to show the light of Christ to those around us by what we say and what we do.
