Christmas is all about Jesus coming into the world. He left his home in Heaven, was born of a virgin, and became a man. (Hebrews 1:3).
Today I want you to remember that one reason Jesus came was to serve. In the Bible, we read, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)
Jesus talked about serving when He was here on the earth. One day He told James and John, two of His disciples, that if they wanted to be great, they needed to learn to serve others.
It’s easy to become self-centered and only think about yourself.
What do I want?
Where do I want to go?
What can my friends do for me?
Jesus doesn’t want us to live this way. He has a better plan for our lives. He wants us to be like Him. He wants us to follow His example and put others before ourselves.
This Christmas, try to think of people other than yourself. It’s okay to have fun at Christmas, to enjoy the food and the presents, but remember that Jesus wants you to think of others first.
Here are some things you can do to serve others:
Make a Christmas card for someone.
Go to a nursing home and sing Christmas carols.
Bake cookies for a friend.
Make a special Christmas present for someone who needs a friend.
Invite someone to church with you.
It’s almost Christmas. Your Christmas will be much more special if you remember that Jesus came to serve people… and you can do the same thing!
