Why Jesus Was Born: To Bring Hope to the Hopeless

Awana

How many times have I found myself in a situation and asked, “What is the purpose of this? What is the point?” It seems that the older I become the more these types of situations arise.

I have two young boys that are growing and changing every day. Whether you have your own children, work with children or just love children, you know that the training up of their hearts is a huge and never-ending task. I find myself in more and more situations where I am asking:

“Why? Help! Where are you God? This is scary. I don’t think I can do this. “

And the more that life passes by, the more we find ourselves asking these questions and maybe sometimes wondering where God is in the hard. Wondering why we may be watching those dear to us suffering as we are left helpless to do anything and maybe even hopeless.

I found myself just a few nights ago with tears streaming down my face and hands raised towards the sky as I poured out my brokenness to God again. In that moment I was reminded by a still small voice that is always there once I finally turn off all of the noise. He said to me:

“Felicia, I know the plans I have for you. Guess what, sweet child of mine? They are plans to prosper you, not to harm you and to give you a future. I bring you hope even when you think there is none right now. As tough as this situation may be I am right here, I have gone before you and I love you.”

Maybe you are in one of those moments right now. Maybe you are unsure of life right now. Friend, I would challenge you to take Jeremiah 29:11 and put your name in the verse. Read it out loud and know that God’s promises to us are true.

Lord, we are so thankful for your love and how you’ve prepared a way before we even arrive. You are our healer, strong tower and defender. Thank you for your promises. We love you.
