2021 Annual Report: Celebrating the Work of God Through Awana

Carla Hutson

February 21, 2022

As we all continued to live and operate this past year in an ever-changing culture, God continued to work through Awana to enlarge His kingdom and raise resilient disciples. It is because of His favor, and the determination and creativity of loyal leaders, churches and partners, that we can share some of those exciting stories in the 2021 Annual Report.

The Data Confirms Awana Works!

The report includes fascinating research conducted by Excellence in Giving, which surveyed more than 1,000 adults who attended Awana as children. When compared to the U.S. average, these alumni reported they engage more in church and faith gatherings, believe more that the Bible is true, study and read their Bible more often, and share their faith with strangers more frequently.

We also included stories of Awana alumni who are bringing the Gospel to life in their work in the U.S., and the ensuing impact on families and communities.

Awana Makes an International Impact

A year ago, the 2020 Annual Report featured the Awana schools project in Zimbabwe. In the 2021 report, you’ll read about its overwhelming success, which resulted in an invitation to use Awana curriculum in 31,000 schools across six more African countries, with the potential to reach 31 million more kids! You’ll also learn how teams on the ground in the Philippines have formed two partnerships – one with Compassion International and the other with the Center for Community Transformation. By collaborating, all three organizations are able to serve kids in that country by using Gospel-centered curricula they crafted to meet the children’s unique needs.

Be inspired by the Awana Border Project, which is providing discipleship to children emigrating from their homelands and arriving on the U.S.-Mexico border. Find encouragement in the feedback from attendees of the 2021 Child Discipleship Forum, who shared how the conference grew their conviction to lead children to lasting faith in Jesus.

And don’t miss how God worked through a child attending Awana to change the heart of a tribal warrior!

Awana By the Numbers

This past year we began offering Awana in Estonia and Namibia. Read what other countries have Awana, and read how many clubs and kids are being served around the world. The financial report also includes a financial review.

A Year Worth Celebrating

As our world continues to change, there are some things at Awana that will never change. Awana remains committed to child discipleship, centrally focused on the Gospel, faithfully partnered with churches around the world and committed to helping form lasting faith in kids so they don’t just endure, but thrive no matter what.

In 2022, God has already given us new stories that we’ll share with you in the future. Until then, please read and download the 2021 Annual Report, and celebrate with us how He is working through Awana to change lives and spread His love.
