God Desires That We Walk in Hope

Across our globe, on a daily basis, situations and devastation happen that are impacting individuals, communities and nations. Sometimes it is difficult to know how to pray. Chris Dunrud, Awana church missions partnership manager, shares the following Bible verses and ideas to help you as you lift up the needs of the world to a God Who cares about them all.

God created the world. Acknowledge His power.

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. (Psalm 24)

God is working in the world. Pray for His kingdom to come.

“Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”  (Matthew 6:10)

Pray for individuals and communities. Pray for Awana missionaries and ministry team members as they train and equip leaders to reach kids with the Gospel and engage them in lifelong discipleship.

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone. … (1 Timothy 2:1)

Pray for those of authority and in leadership.

… for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (1 Timothy 2:2)

Pray for Christians and the church to continue to bring hope.

… For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:17-18)

As believers, God desires we walk in a hope that is grounded in His truth — and that we share that hope with others. Use the Awana Prayer Calendar daily to pray for people all around the world to hear the truth and respond to the Holy Spirit’s promptings so that they, too, can have eternal life.
