Sharing the Love of Christ in Ukraine
In war-torn Ukraine, where millions of people are displaced, our courageous Ukraine staff, buoyed by your prayers and financial support, is selflessly serving communities with humanitarian aid and the love of Christ. Leaders who were previously running clubs in churches are making use of available safe places — mountain villages, school basements and bomb shelters — to reach kids with the Gospel and God’s saving grace.
Awana, Now in More Public Schools in Africa
We reported in our 2021 annual report about our Africa Child & School Initiative taking place in Zimbabwe. Since then, we have been invited to provide programming in the public schools of seven African countries. Kids attending Awana are coming to school more often, and their grades and behavior are improving. God has given us the opportunity to reach 31 million children across the continent with the love of Christ, and we are excited to tell you more about it!
Providing Hope for Those Who are Grieving
God answered our prayers to find a way to help the community of Uvalde, Texas, following the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School. He did so by opening doors for us to partner with more than 60 children’s pastors in Latino churches in the community. Together, we are helping the children in their congregations heal. Awana is also serving children and youth on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border and in four Central American countries.

Carla’s work at Awana has been on the communications and marketing teams. It is important to her that Awana leaders and volunteers have the information they need to best disciple the kids in their care, and that these kids grow to become disciplemakers, themselves. When Carla is not at work, she enjoys walking with friends, taking pictures of birds and sunsets, or exploring new places with her husband and daughter.
