It’s Never Too Cold for Club!
Mongolia
Imagine a cold winter night in the U.S. You’re lamenting the early darkness, thankful for a working heater and a cozy fireplace … decision made. Tonight’s a night for a blanket, some hot chocolate, and a Hallmark movie. It’s too cold and dark for anything else, right?
Eight-year-old Enkhmend would probably drag us up off the couch and say, “It’s never too cold for church!”
He may be young and small, but his determination and his heart are mighty. Mongolian winters regularly reach temperatures of -40 degrees. You read that correctly: negative forty. And Enkhmend finds a way to get to his Awana Club still, all winter long.
No matter the weather outside, God is transforming young lives at Awana in Mongolia.
When he’s at club — and when he’s not — he’s a student of the Bible and a prayer warrior. Never one to shy away from reciting verses in front of his teachers and peers, Enkhmend is proudly and actively hiding God’s Word in his heart. Meanwhile, he wants the same thing for all the children around the world, and he prays for them every week. Why? Because Enkhmend already knows prayer works. Prayer softened his father’s heart toward church. Not only did Enkhmend’s prayers for his dad change his dad’s willingness to come to church, but through that experience, his dad truly became a believer and is spreading the Gospel to anyone willing to listen.
Enkhmend and his friends know that prayer changes hearts and draws people to Jesus.
This is what Awana is about. Shaping generations for lasting faith in Jesus. Thank you for being a reason children like Enkhmend can receive and share the good news of the Gospel.
