Meet Janet

Janet’s Story

Though at times it is hard to see it in the midst of the noise and busyness, God is working in our cities and is doing so through Awana. Around the world, in places like Seoul, Los Angeles, Toronto and others, families are being impacted through local churches utilizing the Awana ministry.

In one of New York City’s boroughs, we meet a wonderful seven year old girl named Janet who attends a local Awana club. Janet and her family live in the hustle and bustle of the Bronx and it is here, in the midst of the noise and busyness that Janet has met Jesus and is learning to follow Him.

“It is good to learn about God’s faithfulness and trust,” said Janet as she recalls what she is learning in Awana.

Janet’s identity isn’t found only in her family, who has made sure to put their faith first, but from her point of view, the church is place where she finds a community of prayer, praise and care.

“God gave us a church to praise and pray to Him,” says Janet while sitting in her small, urban church. “I’ve learned that whenever we pray, God answers.”

While God’s answers may not always happen the way that we would imagine, even Janet at age seven has an assurance that she has a good Heavenly Father who is always there and loves us. Simply, Janet knows God is good and she can trust Him, a lesson she continues to learn every week through Awana.
