Meet some of our friends from Pakistan! The fact that God has opened up doors for Awana in a country where it is sometimes hard to follow Jesus because of other religions is amazing. Check out what God is doing!
NASIR’S STORY
Pakistan is a country in the middle east often filled with conflict. The people have suffered through many hard circumstances and sometimes feel broken because of all the things happening around them. Nasir grew up on the streets of Pakistan, with no real home to live in. Other children in his town judged him and assumed he was a bad kid. His father came in and out of Nasir’s life, he was not consistent and left Nasir suffering and feeling lonely.
Nasir joined the Awana club in his city and was immediately taken care of by his leaders. They showed him love and taught him the truth found in Scripture. Over time, Nasir learned to pray to God. Every night he prayed for his father and family. Nasir prayed that his father would come home, support his family, and turn from his destructive ways.
God answered Nasir’s prayer! Nasir’s father heard about Jesus and that only Jesus could repair his broken heart and make him whole again. He repented of his sins and asked his family to forgive him for being inconsistent and for his bad actions. Nasir welcomed him home with open arms. Now Nasir’s father is working and caring for his family. Nasir and his family can stay together and have been made whole through Jesus!
RAMEEZ’S STORY
Rameez and his family live on a farm in Pakistan. Working on a farm requires a lot of time and hard work to maintain. Every day Rameez must feed and give water to the cows and other animals living on the farm. Sometimes Rameez works in the fields to make sure the crops grow strong. What chores do you have to do around your house? When an Awana club started near Rameez, he was excited to join in the games and have fun with his friends! But his parents wanted him to stay home and work on the farm instead.
Rameez told his Awana leader that his parents didn’t want him attending. Together, Rameez and his Awana leader began praying for his family. Through prayer, God did a big miracle in Rameez’s family and their hearts were changed! They heard the gospel and now love Jesus too. Now on Sunday, Rameez’s family takes a break from working on the farm and goes to church as a family instead. They enjoy going to Awana clubs every week to worship and pray together!
