An Attitude Refresh!

Admission here – March is my least favorite month, even the snow (if there’s any left) looks tired and gray. If there isn’t any snow around, the world looks colorless and dreary. (Ok, I know some of you live in year-round warmer climates surrounded by constantly blooming flowers.)

But no matter how muddy and yucky our outside world is we don’t have to have “muddy and yucky” attitudes. Yes, kids are getting restless as they head toward the end of the school year. Yes, spring and summer sports teams are getting organized and taking clubbers away from Awana (unfortunately). Yes, leaders are getting bogged down in the sameness of coming to club every week.

Wait a minute! We aren’t to lose heart, but to be renewed day by day (as Paul writes in 2 Corinthians).

Here are 10 verses to remind us, that as Christians, we can be refreshed.

1. Psalm 23:3 – He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

2. Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

3. Isaiah 40:31 – But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

4. Isaiah 41:10 – Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

5. 2 Corinthians 4:16 – So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.

6. Ephesians 2:22-24 – To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

 7. Ephesians 3:16 – that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,

 8. Philippians 4:7 –  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

 9. Colossians 3:10- And have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.

10. 2 Timothy 2:1 –You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
