12 Suggestions for a Fantastic Facebook Page
Awana might be over for the summer, but you can keep in contact with your leaders and families through Facebook … and of course, continue Facebook throughout the club year. You might have your own Facebook page and have thought about a club/church page, but not sure what you would put on it.
Some Ideas
For summer –
1. Countdown to the new club year. (How many days are left? If you want to get detailed – how many hours and minutes?)
2. Plans for the fall. New theme nights, contests, new way of organizing club, new check-in (see Mozo), etc.
3. Introduction of new leaders.
4. Sharing posts from the Awana/LifeThreads/Parent blog. (Lot of clubs share these on their church websites – that’s what we’re here for.)
For the club year –
4. Reminders about theme nights. (Make sure you wear your clothes backwards, inside out, upside down tonight. Don’t forget to bring food for our Thanks Drive, etc.)
5. Help needed! (Could you bring some chips and salsa for our football night? We need a couple volunteers to cut out flowers for our Sparky Tea.)
6. Updates on cancellations. (Snow night or the water main broke – no club tonight.)
7. (Again) Sharing posts from the Awana/LifeThreads/Parent blog. (Lot of clubs share these on their church websites – that’s what we’re here for.)
8. Statistics – (592 verses were recited last year. Awana is in more than 100 countries, etc.)
9. Updates on global news. (For instance, Awana had a place to send money to the Nepali Awana missionaries after the recent earthquake.)
10. Invitation for families/parents to attend other church events.
11. Announcement of events. (Bible Quizzing in Springfield Saturday, Valentine’s Banquet at church, etc.)
12. Pics of kids. People like to see pictures but be very, VERY careful. Never, ever publish a child’s name. Never, EVER publish a child’s picture without the parent’s permission. (Many churches ask on the beginning-of-the-year-registration form if it’s ok to include a picture of the child on social media.) Even with permission, be cautious – group pictures where kids faces aren’t clearly defined are best.
