
We talk a lot about gratitude … especially this time of year.
And if you ask a group of kids what they’re thankful for, at least one or two of them will say “God.”
But why? Why should we be thankful to God?
Here are 11 verses that you can share as a quick reminder of what God has done for us. (Read one of them during your opening each week.)
Or – another option – Several of these verses are part of a Bible event or are connected to a particular Bible character … and would make a great Large Group lesson on thankfulness.
1. He is good. (I Chronicles 16:34) – Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good …
2. His steadfast love endures forever. (1 Chronicles 16:41) – … give thanks to the Lord, for His steadfast love endures forever.
3. His righteousness. (Psalm 7:17) – I will give to the Lord the thanks due to His righteousness.
4. His wonderful deeds. (Psalm 9:1) – I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.
5. His holy name. (Psalm 30:4) – give thanks to His holy name.
6. He has given wisdom. (Daniel 2:23) – I give thanks and praise,
for you have given me wisdom.
7. He has given us food. (Matthew 15:36) – He took the seven loaves and the fish, and having given thanks He broke them.
8. For each other. (1 Corinthians 1:4) – I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus.
9. He gives us victory. (1 Corinthians15:57) – But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
10. An inheritance. (Colossians 1:12) – Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.
11. In all circumstances. (I Thessalonians 5:18) – Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
