Is there anything really important to remember for Lesson Time?

Remember that Cubbies Lesson Time is Cubbie Bear Buddy Level One which means to sit still and listen. There are lots of great ways to gain and keep their attention, and proper preparation is key. Is there anything else that would be helpful to know about Lesson Time?

Your leaders doing puppets should know the puppet script from the Cubbies AppleSeed or HoneyComb Teaching Plans well enough that they don’t have to read it. You do not have to have a puppet stage. It’s a good idea to store the puppets out of sight once the Bible is opened, because they can be distracting to the children. Need more inspiration on puppets? How do we get Cubbies to stay in their own space during Lesson Time?

Cubbies won’t know what their own space is unless you define it for them. You can do this in many ways, like taping a line on the floor for kids to sit on, or having a rug with spots on it. One great low-budget idea is to allow Cubbies to decorate a placemat or paper that can be laminated into a mat. Place their names on the fronts for easy identification. Throughout the club year, have Cubbies sit on these during Lesson Time. At the end of the club, year send it home with them.
