God At Work in Latin America
The harvest is plentiful, God is at work, and churches and partners all across Latin America are using the tool of Awana to impact lives for Christ. Children, youth, and families are hearing the Good News of Jesus and being discipled in Christ like never before. We rejoice to see how God has raised up leaders, men and women of God, who are called to serve Him in the mission to children and youth. It is these leaders who are making investments of their time, gifting and resources to serve the most receptive, and too often overlooked, people in the world today – children.
The calling and equipping of Christian leaders across Latin America has grown from approximately 7,000 leaders just five years ago to over 20,000 today. This means that three times as many children, approximately 80,000 in 2012 to nearly 230,000 today, are being discipled in Christ every week! Local partners and denominations in countries like Peru and Colombia are getting trained by Awana, and then they are equipping their own networks of churches. This has led to explosive growth and an impact far beyond what our Awana teams could do alone. For example, in Peru the number of children being impacted has tripled from 4,000 to 12,000 in just two years time. And Colombia has seen their impact grow five-fold over the last four years from 6,000 children in 2013 to 28,000 today. What a harvest! To God be the glory! And we trust and pray that this is only the beginning. God’s heart is for every child everywhere to call on His Name. Awana Latin America is ready and looks forward to partnering with, serving and equipping those whom He will call.
