When Is Your Club’s Kick-Off Date?

Awana Editorial Team

September 4, 2020

After months of strenuous preparation, Awana programs are bravely starting up around the country. You have chosen to stand resiliently in the face of the unknown and fight for the children in your community and their relationship with Jesus.

You have spent time focusing on the who, what, where and how of ministry and now the big question is when? Whether you have confirmed your start date or you’ve already begun, there still might be lingering, unanswered questions. You are never alone! We’re all in this together. If you need any assistance, please contact us at partnercare@awana. We are here to help.

Check out the responses from leaders all over the country when asked, “When is your club kick-off date?”! Please join us as we ask God to bless these ministry friends. And, if you haven’t already, let us know in the comments when your club begins!

August

  • Officially starts in a week with Zooms Wednesday! – lauramaloufc
  • We started August 5. God is good! 1) Some of our clubbers are going to wait until spring to return, and we truly miss them, but understand completely. 2) We got five new clubbers, via church visitors. 3) This week we have the “make up” Awana Grand Prix that we missed in April. Masks are encouraged, as they are every week. 4) Next week, we have our “make up” Awards Ceremony that didn’t happen in May. I praise God that although we are treading carefully with social distancing and other suggested guidelines, we are able to check off some of these events. – GI J.
  • Already 2 weeks in. – Rachel
  •  We started August 19- first full week of school. Awana numbers were better than I expected. Week two we had a special speaker and 4 kids accepted the Lord into their lives!!! – Melissa
  • August 19 was our first club night, in person. We are in Georgia. – Gwen.
  • We kicked off on August 12, and it’s going great! – almaleeshumate

Hopefully we can be inside next month. We are waiting to see how it goes with the school. I’m sure there will be hoops to jump through. We did our award night in June on our football field. Families sat in groups to social distance. Some were masks. We liked it so well we are going to do that next year. – Maureen

  • September 13. In person but outside at first. We have most of our spots filled but would love to see someone step up in the position of worship. It’s been sweet to sit back and literally see who God would send our way so really other than logistics I feel like we are ready to go. Thank you! – Lauren
  • September 13, in person! Please pray we can teach and lead effectively and that the children’s hearts would be receptive. Thank you! – Tracy Perkins
  • September 16!!! – Megan L.
  • September 16. Pray that we will have enough workers for the amount of children God sends to us. For me personally – I am a Sparks director – I will be in a different room this year, actually the sanctuary, which is a pretty sterile environment with ropes etc. for social distancing. There is not much kid-friendly stuff “going on” in there. Pray that the Lord will direct me to good theme nights with the amount of restrictions in place and that each week, I will attend and serve and invest with great joy, and that together we will make His name known. I really appreciate the prayer! – Lorelei

  • September 23 in person. Pray that our families will return with their children. Pray for God’s Guidance that he will keep us all safe and protect the children. Help us to minister to their needs. Help us to show love even thru all the restrictions and extra Covid guidelines. Help us pray that they will see the need to come back. – Tammy
  • September 23. Pray for confidence to move forward in midst of pandemic & the varied perspectives of our community, families, & church as a whole. We are without a senior pastor & children’s minister. Services are not yet back to pre-Covid schedule. – Karen

  • October 7 Delaying start because we are hoping to start in person, but want to give families the chance to settle into school first and we can’t start school until Sept 1st in WI. We can be praying for our families and teachers as they start back tomorrow. Anxiety is high! Also pray that we would hear God’s voice and direction in decisions that need to be made as to how we can safely meet with kids in person. Club will need to look differently. – Angie
  • October 7 – batgirl0
  • October 7 . Prayers for Covid numbers to remain low so that we can meet in person. Also prayers for staffing issues. Thank you! – Sarah
  • We are starting a bit late this year. October 7. – marnellejane
  • We are hoping to hold a drive thru welcome back on October 11twhere we will get kids registered, hand out books and goodie bags and then start our first in person club night on October 18. We wanted to wait a month before starting to see how schools do in our areas, schools start back on September 14 for most of our area, some start the September 9. We would love prayers that our Elder’s approve our plan to start club this year, prayers for leaders and commander to execute this plan and still come up with appropriate spacing for each of our groups, prayers for our club families that they find our plan to be a good one and that they can continue to bring their children to club every week and lastly prayers for all of our communities surrounding our church that our infection rates stay low so schools can start and continue to execute their plans to keep all communities healthy and safe. – Roseanne
