Why Do People Suffer? A Talk About Guide to Share With Children

Today we learned about another shooting in our country, this one at a Christian school in Nashville. In response, our Talk About team put together this Talk About Conversation Guide: Why People Suffer for you to share with children who may have heard about the tragedy and are concerned or have questions. You may find this resource also helps you with your questions. The following is from Talk About Content Developer Shawna Murlin.
As I sat at my desk planning Talk AboutTM content for the next few months, my phone buzzed with a news alert. My heart sank when I read the words … “shooting at private Christian grade school in Nashville.”
First, please know we are praying for the children and staff at The Covenant School. Our hearts break with and for those who are hurting today. All of us at Awana mourn with those who mourn (Romans 12:15).
Your kids may have questions that are really hard to answer. In fact, you may have questions that are really hard to answer. Our prayer is this conversation guide equips you to have very emotional, but very important conversations with your children. As you share God’s Word with your children and help them process today’s events, you are helping them see that we worship a God who is with us — in our moments of greatest joy and moments of our deepest sorrow.
With our love and prayers,
Shawna & The Talk About Team
