Our Response to the Ukraine Crisis

On February 24, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine that has deeply affected the ministry of Awana in this country and the surrounding region. Awana Ukraine began serving churches, children and families in 1992. Over the past 30 years it has grown into our most vibrant and influential ministry in Europe. At the time of the war, Awana Ukraine was partnering with 548 churches, reaching and discipling more than 25,000 children across Ukraine every week, as well as supporting the ministry of Awana in 10 other countries.
Awana and our local church partners have stepped up to meet the needs of refugees and give them hope! Our teams are on the ground, in both Ukraine and neighboring countries, to provide much needed assistance to those seeking safety. Working through local churches, we are supplying Ukrainian women and children food, clothing, shelter, medical attention and computers. We are also providing fuel, car repairs, generators and money to help those in need. Most importantly we are praying for and sharing God’s love with everyone we encounter.
We have an opportunity to show our support and we need your help.
How You Can Help
Your financial gift to Awana will help us accomplish the following:
- Provide immediate support to Awana Ukraine missionaries and staff, including the relocation of some of our families away from some of the most violent areas.
- Assist our Ukraine church partners to provide basic supplies like food, water, clothing, shelter and funds, both for those sheltering in place and those who have been displaced inside Ukraine.
- Provide food, shelter and support services to Ukrainian refugees crossing the border into neighboring countries through our church partners in those countries.
- Enable church pastors and Awana missionaries in neighboring countries to meet the growing demand of discipling even more children through our Awana programs.
- Continue to provide additional resources and support to Ukrainian children and their families over the longer term, both in Ukraine and in neighboring countries.
As the situation in Ukraine unfolds, Awana will continue to allocate resources to meet the greatest needs of churches, families and children in crisis in the region. We do reserve the right to reallocate funds to other areas of greatest need once these needs have been met.
